Art Deco Walnut Bureau
This Art Deco walnut bureau was a client’s own commission, after she had “had a go” and realised furniture refinishing was not for her! After sanding back decades of crackled varnish the stunning burr walnut grain was revealed, and had to be the main feature of this design. A bespoke taped design was applied in gold to echo the shapes of the glass door, the exterior painted in a custom blended soft duck-egg-blue, while the interior of the bureau section was completely refreshed too. The final touch was adding this fun chameleon-print wallpaper to the back-panel, before gilding the shelf edges, beading and hardware.
